About RIHE Library

The RIHE higher education library is the oldest in Japan. Since its establishment in 1972, special efforts have been made to collect relevant books and other publications from all over the world. Special attention has been also given to the collection of official documents related to higher education policy making and management; materials related to university reform and innovation; newspapers and journals on higher education; and catalogues of major universities in Japan and abroad.

By spring 2015, RIHE had the largest collection of higher education publications and documents and related fields among Japanese universities and specialized institutions: 22,035 volumes of books in Japanese; 16749 in other languages; 60 titles of academic journals in Japanese; and 75 in other languages.

Additional holdings include bulletins and calendars from Japanese and foreign universities as well as reform proposals and research reports and other materials.
